LifeCare hosts fundraising events throughout the year to help raise support and awareness as we invite our Community to partner and invest in the work of the ministry.

National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Twenty-three years ago, the Christian Action Council Education and Ministries Fund, which is today known as Care Net, asked President Ronald Reagan to create a special day to focus on the intrinsic value of human life and the fundamental right to life, as recognized by the American Founding Fathers.

In 1983, President Reagan issued a proclamation establishing a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS). Since 1983, the SOHLS proclamation has also been issued by Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush.

When is SOHLS?

The National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973.

This year SOHLS will take place on January 18, 2009.

How can I get involved?

Each year, individuals and churches in our community participate in honoring the sacred gift of life through supporting and donating to the mission of LifeCare of Brandon. LifeCare provides high-quality brochures to area Churches to promote the work we do to bring life-affirming resources to our community and to empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children. Offering envelopes are also provided as Pastors invite their members to give a financial gift in support of the on-going ministry of LifeCare.

My name is Renika Allen. When I found out I was pregnant I was 7 ½ months along. I was very confused and afraid and did not know what to do. My mom found the Brandon Care Pregnancy Center and we went there for help. I met wonderful people at the center who made me feel special and I felt comfortable there. Miss Charlene talked to me about adoption because I am too young and not ready to parent a baby. I attended a group for adoption and the girls there talked to me and helped me make an adoption plan for my baby. I chose wonderful parents for my baby and I talk to them often. I will get to go to Seattle this summer to see my little boy. I am thankful for the pregnancy center. They were there for me to help me in a very sad time. I thank God for leading me to the center and He gave me the strength to get through the most difficult time in my life. Thank you for your generosity in giving to the Brandon Care Pregnancy Center. Your gift helps them to continue helping girls like me.

Ladies Spring Tea

Each year ladies from the community gather for a special tea time to celebrate the work and ministry of LifeCare of Brandon. Tea Hostesses decorate and invite 8 – 10 women to fill their tables. Tea Program includes special music, speaker or drama, a ministry update and vision and most importantly, life-changing testimonies from clients whose lives have been touched through the ministry of LifeCare.

Golf Challenge

Helping others is one of the most important opportunities in life. Each year golfers join together to make a big difference in the lives of many women, couples, children and families by seeking sponsorships for LifeCare of Brandon’s annual Golf Challenge. This is a fun-filled day of golf, food, and prizes as men and women from the community support the mission and vision of LifeCare.

Gala Fundraiser

Our Gala is LifeCare’s biggest annual fundraiser as 500 – 600 guests attend our semi-formal dinner and program to celebrate the past year’s ministry and to support the future vision of LifeCare.of Brandon. Table Hosts prayerfully invite 8 – 10 guests who they would like to introduce to the ministry of LifeCare as well as those who have been faithful supporters.

Special donors of LifeCare underwrite the total cost of the Gala and guests are given the opportunity to give financial gifts to partner and invest in the mission of LifeCare: To guide those we serve to the unconditional love of Christ through the ministry of prevention, intervention and restoration.

Walk For Life

Raising awareness for the sanctity of life and LifeCare's mission in our community is a critical function of our ministry.  The Walk For Life inspires a culture of life in our community by being visible and raising a voice in one of the most traveled areas of Brandon.  Participants walk a short but well traveled route exposing LifeCare's message to hundreds of vehicles during the day.  Donations of diapers and wipes are collected by various means connected with this event to support LifeCare's services to moms and their children.
