Legacy of Life
Looking back...
As I think about the history of LifeCare, I am amazed at what God has done! Little did I dream of the impact that this ministry would have on this community in these twenty-five years we’ve been serving. We have had over 61,000+ contacts since that first day, June 17, 1987. Four ladies from First United Methodist Church researched the need for, what was then called, Crisis Pregnancy Centers. The need was found to be great. I was asked to be the Director, not really knowing what that meant. I, a Board of Directors, and a number of interested people were trained by a pastor, Andy Merritt, from Columbus, GA, who had established many Pregnancy Centers around the southeastern part of the United States. We started with fifteen volunteers and myself. For many of our years we’ve had from 30 to 50+ volunteers working weekly four hour shifts in the daytime and two hour weekly shifts at night.

Getting Our Priorities In Order Brings A Sense Of Peace
Posted by: cookie |Luke 10:38-41 As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Children Say the Most Interesting Things…
Posted by: cookie |I read lots of Max Lucado’s things and Thursday, at staff meeting, I used one of his stories as my devotion…..
You came home cranky because a deadline got moved up. She came home grumpy because the day care forgot to give your five-year-old her throat medicine. Each of you wanting a little sympathy from the other, but neither got any. So there you are at the dinner table—cranky and grumpy—with little Emily. Emily folds her hands to pray (as she has been taught), and the two of you bow your heads (but not your hearts) and listen. From where this prayer comes, God only knows.
Priase in Difficult Circumstances
Posted by: cookie |Read Psalm 67
May the peoples praise you, O God; …and God, our God, will bless us.
- Psalm 67: 5, 6
Laying my paralysis from polio in God’s big hands as I live life from a wheelchair is a blessed adventure. But when my “Why me?” attitude sneaks in I wonder why others appear to be trouble free I’ve discovered that appearances aren’t necessarily so. Getting beneath the surface exposes the truth that position, money, fame or beauty doesn’t eliminate problems. When pursuing these things has priority over our relationship with Christ, Satan will constantly be about his joy stealing efforts.

“LifeCare has made such a difference in my life. Coming here helped me to accept my baby and I love him more than I could have ever imagined! I committed my heart to Christ and was baptized when I was 8 months pregnant. I have completed the Woman of Worth Program and now I have a healthy love and respect for myself. Thank you LifeCare!”
