I had the privilege of hearing the teaching of Bishop Schanase from Missouri at my church on Sunday.  I just loved his sermon title, “Nibbling Yourself Lost.”  He says sheep do this.  They do not look where they’re going while they eat.  They keep their heads down and wander, nibbling at the next tuft of grass.  They are never aware of the dangers around them.  They become totally lost.  When the shepherd realizes one is lost he will leave the large group and go and find the one that’s wandered away and bring it to safety.

The Bible speaks about shepherds and sheep frequently.  We human beings can be compared easily to sheep and Jesus reminds us of the Shepherd.  It is so easy to wander around in this world and partake of things that seem so good at the time but often lead us into lostness.  Lostness has to do with being separated from our Heavenly Father and His Truth, the Bible.

It always amazes me to see how our God pursues us individually.  All we have to do is stop, lift our head, turn around and there He is just a step behind.  The young woman that finds she is dealing with an unplanned pregnancy reminds me of someone that nibbles themselves lost.  She begins to look for love in all the wrong places and often with a person whose agenda is to have his way.  She wanders away from things that she might have learned earlier in her life that were good.  The relationships found in those wrong places sometimes lead to  unplanned  pregnancies.  Then is when someone mentions LifeCare and she walks in our door.  God’s pursuit of individuals manifests itself in interesting ways.

We are blessed to get to be Jesus with skin on to our clients.  She finds Jesus at LifeCare, commits her life to Him, and begins to live her life according to His Word.  In the past few years we’ve implemented classes for the fathers as well. Together they start building a biblical household.  Their lives turn from being lost to being found.
