We are Jayme and Melissa Arias. We started coming to LifeCare as we were expecting our baby. Our daughter was born November 25, 2010. The Birth of a Family Class has taken our marriage to a new level of confidence. The Class teaches us to have hope when all is not going so well, and how to appreciate life in every aspect. Our daughter has better parents who are more loving and caring now.

It was a beautiful Sunday, Sanctity of Life Sunday 2010, when I heard THE call. I go to The Crossing and Pastor Greg’s sermon was about abortion. It was during that sermon that God very clearly spoke to me that I had a story to tell and it would be used to free other women from the bondage and the secret of abortion.

I was recently reading scripture and a devotion by Rosalie Willis when I happened on this verse, "You will prepare and strengthen and direct their hearts." Psalm 10:17   Immediately I thought - that's what we do at LifeCare.  Rosalie expressed it so well.  We teach others to be still and know God with an assurance of His love and care.

We endeavor to be a lighthouse of hope and freedom that helps our clients realize that with God's strength they can do what He has created them to do and be.  His love will set them free and give them a sense of security.

LifeCare staff recently hosted an inservice training for our volunteer LifeCoaches.  Our guest speaker was Marilyn Bray from the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.  She led a training on sexual violence and trauma recovery to educate and support our LifeCoaches in ministering to clients.   Statistics show that 1 out of every 3 women have experienced some form of sexual molestation and 1 out of 6 women have been victims of attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.  

How you can help a friend, loved one or client:

•    Believe & Listen.  Be there.  Don’t be judgmental.
•    Be patient.  Remember, it will take your loved one or client some time to deal with the crime.
•    Empower your loved one or client.  Rape and sexual assault are crimes that take away an  individual’s power, it is important not to compound this experience by     putting pressure on your loved one to do things that he or she is not ready to do yet. •    Encourage & Refer.  Let your loved one know that professional help is available through the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by calling 211.
