Dear LifeCare Partners,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”  Proverbs 3:5, 6

I’m learning over and over again that it’s not always easy to trust in the Lord and lean not on my own understanding!  I am in one of those difficult seasons at this time of my life and ministry when God is asking me , “Karen, do you trust in Me… even though things don’t make sense and you don’t understand my plan… will you trust in Me no matter what?”  Although these times of learning and trusting can be very painful, God promises to use them to grow and mature us in our faith.

When I was four months pregnant, I was visiting my doctor and I noticed the LifeCare Center across the street.  I went over to LifeCare to see what it was all about and if it might be a place that I could go to.  I told them that I was hearing impaired and I use sign language.  I also speak Spanish and English.  They were very nice and I started right away with a Life Coach named Linda. 

Lifecare has made such a difference in my life. In my time of need you were always there to help me. I was never made to feel like a burden.

I recently heard this story on Moody Radio.  A thirteen year old  daughter was in the kitchen watching her mother dipping cherries in chocolate and placing them on wax paper to harden.  The mother noticed her child admiring the cherries.  She said, “Would you like me to serve you some?”  With a big grin she let it be known that she thought that was a good idea.

Have you ever thought that a disability could be a gift from God?  As a child of 18 months of age I contracted polio which left much of my body paralyzed.  I was in and out of hospitals until I was 18 undergoing several surgeries and therapy.  During that time I learned to walk with the aid of braces and crutches.  I've lived a lot of my life from a wheelchair.
I was blessed to have parents who introduced me to Jesus very early and when I was 8 years old- I walked to the altar and asked Jesus into my heart.  I somehow understood just how much God loved me and that He was going to use - my disability and all - to serve Him.

I am priviledged to be a part of sending out prayer requests from my church to around 400 people who are on the Prayer Chain.  It dawned on me recently that when the requests come in I pray a quick prayer then, but often, I don't think of them again until another request comes through concerning them, or I happen to see them.

Scripture encourages us to pray for each other and to pray without ceasing.  I wonder how serious God believes we are about our prayers for one another when we pray such hurried and automatic prayers?
